Fragile Resin is the most valuable resource in Genshin Impact that isn’t a primogen. Each one gives 60 original resin. You get them from battle passes, adventure ranks, and Sacred Sakura levels. And most players waste them on things that don’t matter.
After 2000+ hours of artifact farming, here are the mistakes I made so you don’t have to.
Mistake #1: Using Fragile Resin Before AR 45
Before Adventure Rank 45, artifact domains don’t guarantee 5-star drops. Using fragile resin before AR 45 means you’re spending a non-renewable resource on 4-star artifacts you’ll trash later.
Fix: Hoard every fragile resin until AR 45. Every single one. You’ll have 40-50 saved by then.
Mistake #2: Farming Artifacts for Sub-DPS Before Main DPS
Your main DPS does 60-80% of your team’s damage. Upgrading them gives more value than spreading resources across four characters.
Fix: One character at a time. Main DPS to level 90, talents 9/9/9, artifacts with correct main stats. Then your healer/shielder. Then your sub-DPS. Then your second team.
Mistake #3: Not Pre-Farming for Confirmed Banners
The game announces banners two weeks in advance. Most players see the announcement, get excited, then do nothing until the banner drops.
Fix: When a banner is announced, spend your daily resin pre-farming that character’s ascension materials, talent books, and boss drops. You can have everything ready before you even pull.
Mistake #4: Chasing Perfect Artifact Sub-Stats
The difference between “correct main stat with okay subs” and “correct main stat with perfect subs” is 2000 resin for 5% more damage. Not worth it.
Fix: Main stat correct. Two of four sub-stats are useful (crit rate, crit damage, ATK%, ER%). Stop there. Move to the next character.
Mistake #5: Ignoring the Strongbox
The artifact strongbox (crafting bench) lets you convert three 5-star artifacts into one new 5-star from a set you choose. Most players ignore it because “I might need these later.”
Fix: You won’t need them later. Every flat DEF artifact with bad subs goes into the strongbox. Every single one. Choose the best set for your current character. Repeat.

The One Fragile Resin Rule
Never use fragile resin on anything you can farm with daily resin over one week. Boss materials? You need 46 of them. That’s 6-7 days of daily resin. Don’t rush it with fragile resin. Weekly bosses? You’re capped at one per week anyway. Just wait.
Fragile resin is for artifact domains (random drops, can’t predict when you’ll get lucky) and talent domains when you need 20 more books before a banner ends. Everything else? Patience.
